Tenerife and El Teide Volcano Photo Gallery

In 2000 I stayed on Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands, to visit the Teide volcano with the summit Pico del Teide at 3715m. The cable car brings you from 2400 m all the way to the top. This strato volcano has not erupted since 1909, when a flank eruption occurred on the north western slope : volcan Chinyero. Indications are that volcanic activity has picked up recently in 2007. It is hard to get solid information since Tenerife depends heavily on tourism. So the volcano is in more ways a threat to the population of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
