Tenerife and El Teide Volcano Photo Gallery In 2000 I stayed on Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands, to visit the Teide volcano with the summit Pico del Teide at 3715m. The cable car brings you from 2400 m all the way to the top. This strato volcano has not erupted since 1909, when a flank eruption occurred on the north western slope : volcan Chinyero. Indications are that volcanic activity has picked up recently in 2007. It is hard to get solid information since Tenerife depends heavily on tourism.
