Lanzarote Volcanic Island Photo Gallery

Lanzarote one of Spain's Canary Islands, is best known for it's nice climate and is favoured by many Europeans as a holiday destination. It is a like all other Canaries a volcanic island. It is covered with lava fields, cinder cones, craters and lava tubes. Between 1730 and 1736 a large eruption covered several villages with lava and ash. The lava fields and it's volcanoes Montanas del Fuego (mountains of fire) now form the national park Parque Nacional Timanfaya. The lack of moist gives the park a unique flora and fauna. The whole island is characterised by the enormous variety of landscapes.
