Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) Photo Gallery

Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) is a rare phenomena in the Netherlands. And even then the weather must cooperate. After many unsuccessful attempts I finally got it right. A gigantic X28 solar flare and clear weather resulted in beautiful red aurora in the Netherlands! The night of October 30th 2003 was one I will never forget. Until then some minor greenish glow way back at the horizon was all I had captured. This night was an experience in itself. At some point the sky was totally red with some green patches. After this natural light show ended clouds drifted in and rain started falling. How lucky can a photographer be?
